Today is the day America remembers the fallen. Those that did not make it home. The men and women who lost their lives fighting for their county.
My life has been filled with people of all ages and nationalities that have fought, that have been affected by war, and whose families have been left with the label ‘hero’ for those that never returned.
This weekend, I learned about another type of fallen hero, those that return, but don’t really ever come home. According to reports, there are 20 veteran suicides a day.
Some suggest this is a low estimate, but at this rate, that is one person committing suicide every 70 minutes, and over 7,000 people dying a year. More than the total number of US troops killed in action in 2018.
